Jungle Book Performance

What a day!
Yesterday (Friday, Novemeber 10) I picked Shayel up from school at about 2:00 and got her makeup and hair done. Then we headed over to the Lincoln Center to prepare for her performance in the Jungle Book. When we arrived she got fitted for her costume, participated in dress rehearsal, watched the State Street Ballet principles in “class”/warmups, watched chunks of the show, performed as a little wolf at about 7:45ish PM and in between did a lot of stretching, waiting, bouncing off the walls, waiting, chatting with dancemates, waiting, playing games, eating…and waiting. I helped back stage the whole time  which mostly involved herding, a LOT of shushing and playing zoo keeper ;) Everyone was exhausted when it was over (about 9:30) but the girls were fantastic. We are so proud of Shayel who practiced with the flu one day, a sore foot another day and overall demonstrated a level of professionalism and discipline that impressed me and David so much.

The weird and wonderful life of Makeesha.

I am a mom to girls, an actor's wife, a designer , a dancer, a knitter and a sexy super hero (true story). I dance, leap, stumble and meander through this adventure called life. Sometimes I soar.
